Showroom Integration: La Basa Interior Design Studio
La Basa is a premier interior design studio based in Dubai Media City. We deployed a complete, design-friendly technology upgrade—featuring UniFi networking, Focal invisible audio, and AI cameras—allowing clients to experience flawless smart integration alongside exceptional interior design.
Key Results
A stunning showroom where the technology complements the interior design. Clients looking for luxury renovations can visit the studio to see La Basa's brilliant design work and experience Hurst First's hardware integrations in person.
The Situation
A premium interior design showroom requires technology that performs flawlessly without breaking the aesthetic illusion. The studio needed enterprise-grade WiFi, zoned audio, and security that remained completely subservient to the architectural design.
Aesthetic Requirements
Standard dome cameras and bulky access points were unacceptable for a luxury design studio. The hardware needed to be physically minimized.
- Zero visual clutter
- Recessed installations
- Discreet security
Experience Driven
La Basa wanted their own prospective clients to experience what a truly well-integrated smart home or office feels like.
- High fidelity audio
- Seamless WiFi roaming
- Demonstrable tech
The Solution
We deployed a boutique stack consisting of UniFi routing, switching, and specialized AI cameras, paired with WiiM amps driving high-end Focal audio.
UniFi Network Backbone
A UniFi Cloud Gateway and 16-port PoE switch quietly driving a ceiling-mounted AP and a discrete in-wall AP for flawless roaming.
- Cloud Gateway
- 16-Port PoE Switch
- In-Wall & Ceiling APs
Focal Audio & WiiM
6 premium in-ceiling Focal speakers powered by 3 compact WiiM amplifiers, delivering rich, zoned ambiance throughout the showroom.

The Art of Invisible Technology
When a premium interior design firm opens a new showroom, the space itself is their resume. The physical architecture, the finishing touches, the texture on the walls, and the lines across the ceiling—every millimeter must be meticulously crafted. For La Basa Design, expanding into Dubai Media City meant creating a showroom that was visually stunning, yet they needed high-performance commercial technology to operate effectively.
The challenge in these environments is absolute discretion. Standard IT solutions—like glaring white dome security cameras with flashing LEDs, or dinner-plate-sized WiFi access points bolted directly onto acoustic wooden rafters—completely break the aesthetic illusion. They act as visual acne inside a carefully curated room.
Our brief was to merge the worlds of enterprise networking, high-fidelity audio, and commercial security into the showroom, but in a way that remained completely invisible to visiting clients. The technology had to perform flawlessly, allowing La Basa to demonstrate "the modern connected home" to their clients, without looking like an IT closet.
The Networking Foundation
All modern AV and security technology relies on the central nervous system: the network. We deployed a highly reliable Ubiquiti UniFi Cloud Gateway to handle the primary routing, firewalls, and security telemetry, feeding down into a 16-port Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch.
To ensure blazing-fast WiFi roaming for the staff's MacBooks and iPad design tools, we installed two UniFi Access Points. To keep them hidden, we utilized an In-Wall AP strategically placed behind cabinetry to blanket the team's working corridor, and a perfectly flush-mounted ceiling AP color-matched to disappear against the background. The network operates silently, delivering gigabit speeds with zero aesthetic penalty.
The Audiophile Experience: Focal & WiiM
Music is critical for setting a luxury atmosphere. The audio system had to sound rich and full even at whispering ambient volumes. We selected Focal, the renowned French audiophile manufacturer, to provide six premium architectural in-ceiling drivers.
Rather than centralizing a massive, hot, rack-mounted amplifier cluster, we opted for a decentralized, highly nimble architecture using three WiiM Pro Amp units. These microscopic streaming amplifiers are hidden entirely out of sight, yet provide the La Basa staff with immediate, synchronized control over three distinct audio zones via their iPhones. The result is flawless multi-room casting over Apple AirPlay 2 or Spotify Connect.
AI Theta: The Pinnacle of Discreet Security
Perhaps the most impressive integration in the showroom is the surveillance. We deployed the Ubiquiti AI Theta camera platform. The genius of the AI Theta lies in its modularity—the bulky processing “brain” is decoupled from the camera lens and hidden far away inside the ceiling void, connected by a dedicated umbilical cable.
What remains visible in the showroom is a microscopic lens no larger than a coin. We deployed one flush-mounted into the ceiling grid, and one interior-friendly bullet lens hidden in the corner detailing. These cameras capture ultra-crisp resolution and person-detection AI analytics without compromising a single interior design line.
