Start With the Outcome, Not the Product
When clients ask for “better Wi-Fi” or “a smart home”, what they usually want is fewer dropouts, better coverage, clear parental controls, and a system that doesn’t need constant attention. We design systems around outcomes first, then select the platform that best delivers those outcomes reliably.
Best suited for: Apartments or smaller homes with wired rooms and no requirement for advanced parental controls or whole-home VPN.
Typical approach: Alta Labs core networking infrastructure.
Why this works well: Fewer components, very predictable behaviour, and easy to support long term.
Best suited for: Family homes with multiple users needing device-level visibility, content filtering, and secure remote access.
Typical approach: Alta Labs infrastructure combined with Firewalla.
Why Firewalla is key: Significantly stronger parental controls than consumer Wi-Fi systems and clear reporting without complexity.
Best suited for: Larger villas where clients want a unified ecosystem for networking, security cameras, and access control.
Typical approach: Ubiquiti UniFi.
Why we use UniFi: Excellent scalability, strong ecosystem, and centralised management for camera-heavy installations.
Best suited for: Smaller homes or budget-conscious installs with straightforward Wi-Fi coverage needs.
Typical approach: TP-Link Deco (maximum six nodes).
Important note: Systems beyond six nodes often become unstable. For strong parental filtering, we still recommend adding Firewalla.
Why We Don’t “Mix and Match”
While it’s technically possible to combine many brands, doing so often increases complexity, makes fault diagnosis harder, and reduces accountability. By recommending defined, proven stacks, we ensure clear responsibility and faster support.
