Setup Steps
Use this page for implementation only after you have already chosen Firewalla as the right platform.
Create a VPN Connection
Open the Firewalla app, tap VPN Client, then + Create VPN Connection. Choose 3rd-Party VPN, select OpenVPN, and import your .ovpn profile. Enter the VPN service credentials (often different from your app login) and save.
Select Devices
Devices must be in the Firewalla overlay network or in router mode. In DHCP mode, devices are already in the overlay. In Simple mode, assign a static IP. Assign the VPN to a specific device or a device group/VLAN.
Connect to the VPN
From VPN Client, toggle the connection On. Or from a device or group, choose the VPN profile. Status should show Connected.
Quick Checks
- Firewalla VPN Client does not support IPv6 (IPv6 traffic is blocked when VPN is on)
- If the .ovpn file has multiple
remotelines, keep only one - If VPN connects but apps fail, try a different server or location
Need Help Now?
