Choose Your Routing Model
We recommend either a dedicated VLAN/SSID for VPN traffic, or routing specific devices only (e.g., TV box, work laptop). Avoid routing the entire network unless you have a clear reason.

Add a VPN Client on UniFi
In UniFi OS (Gateway settings), create a VPN Client. Select protocol (WireGuard or OpenVPN), import the provider config file, then save and connect.

Route Traffic with Traffic Rules
Use Traffic Routes to send a VLAN/SSID or a device group through the VPN. Test the service and confirm your IP/location has changed.
Common Pitfalls (UAE)
- VPN works on mobile data but not on WiFi - often DNS or routing issues
- Poor WiFi coverage causes VPN drops - fix WiFi first
- Double NAT setups can break VPN routing - check network topology
