WiFi, TV Audio & Wireless Cameras – Post-Renovation Alvorada Villa

Why Alta Labs for Alvorada?

Alta Labs (more recently known as Alta Networks) is a professional-grade WiFi manufacturer producing enterprise access points that compete with Ubiquiti UniFi and Aruba in terms of performance. The hardware is characterised by very clean, minimal AP designs that blend well with residential interiors — a key consideration in a freshly renovated villa where aesthetics matter.

The Alvorada villa had no pre-installed WiFi cabling. During the renovation, the opportunity to lay Ethernet within the walls was missed. However, the villa did have existing conduit runs from the telecom cabinet to several rooms — a common feature in UAE residential construction. We used these conduits to run Cat6 cabling to each AP location, achieving wired backhaul without the need to channel new routes through plastered walls.

The result was a properly wired professional WiFi system delivering consistent coverage throughout the home — from the upstairs bedrooms to the kitchen, living areas, and ground floor rooms — with seamless device roaming as the family moved between spaces.

Triad Soundbars: Performance Without Compromise

The main living areas had large-format TVs installed during the renovation. In a large room, the built-in TV speakers simply cannot fill the space with adequate volume and clarity — particularly for dialogue in drama series and films, where the audio mix often places voices in a narrow frequency range that TV panel speakers reproduce poorly.

We specified Triad Performance soundbars for both living areas. Triad is a US custom installation brand producing speaker products specifically for the architectural AV market — their soundbars are designed to deliver wide frequency response across a large room, with particular attention to mid-range voice reproduction.

Each Triad soundbar is driven by a Sonos Amp, providing the streaming and TV audio integration layer. The Sonos Amp connects to the TV via HDMI ARC, automatically routing TV audio through the soundbar system when the television is on. The client controls volume from the Sonos app across both zones independently. Firmware updates over the network keep the system current without any on-site maintenance.

Adding Cameras Without Reopening Walls

The camera scope was not part of the original project — the client requested it after moving in and realising they wanted exterior coverage. By this point, the renovation was fully complete: walls plastered, painted, ceiling finished, tiles laid. Running wired camera infrastructure would have required significant disruption to recover.

Wireless security cameras on a well-designed WiFi network are a practical alternative. The key prerequisite is that the underlying WiFi network provides a stable, reliable signal at each camera location — something the Alta Labs system we had installed was fully capable of. We selected wireless cameras with local NVR recording (stored on-site rather than in a cloud subscription), integrated them into the existing network, and configured remote viewing via the client's smartphones.

External cameras were mounted at the villa perimeter to provide coverage of the entrance, garage, and garden without compromising the interior finish. The entire security system operates on the same app infrastructure as their network, with alerts and live viewing from anywhere in the world.
