SIRA Notes - Dubai Camera & Security Projects
Security camera and access control requirements in Dubai can vary depending on the building, developer, and local authority.
In some cases, projects may fall under SIRA (Security Industry Regulatory Agency) requirements.
What is SIRA?
SIRA (Security Industry Regulatory Agency) is the regulatory body responsible for overseeing security systems in certain buildings and developments in Dubai.
Requirements may apply to commercial buildings, certain residential developments, new builds, or major refurbishments, and they can vary significantly depending on the building type, location, developer, and scope of works.
Our Current Position
This means:
- We cannot act as the primary installer or signatory for projects that explicitly require SIRA registration
- We cannot submit or approve SIRA documentation on behalf of clients
How We Can Still Help
Even where SIRA applies, we may still be able to assist in certain ways depending on the project structure:
- Design and consultation support
- Network and infrastructure planning
- Coordination with a SIRA-registered contractor
- Integration of non-SIRA systems (where permitted)
- Post-install support for non-regulated components
Each project is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Important Notes
- SIRA requirements are not universal across Dubai
- Some buildings do not require SIRA approval at all
- Requirements may change over time or between authorities
- Confirm SIRA requirements early in a project
If SIRA is Required
If your project requires SIRA compliance:
- Tell us as early as possible
- We can help determine the best way to proceed
- We can advise on coordination options where appropriate
