Common Questions

Do you charge for initial consultations?

Initial 15-30 minute phone or video consultations are free. We discuss your requirements and advise on next steps. Detailed on-site surveys and formal design work are quoted based on project scope, with fees often credited against implementation.

What does a site survey include?

A site survey includes walkthrough of the property, assessment of existing infrastructure, WiFi coverage testing if relevant, discussion of your requirements, and identification of opportunities and constraints. We provide a written summary with recommendations.

Can you review plans from another consultant or contractor?

Yes. We often review cabling plans, AV designs, or smart home specifications provided by others. We flag potential issues, missing elements, or better approaches before they become expensive to fix during implementation.

Do you provide technical drawings for contractors?

Yes. For design projects, we provide cabling schedules, floor plans showing outlet locations, rack/cabinet layouts, access point placement diagrams, and written specifications. These integrate with your contractor's documentation.

Can you help select equipment and platforms?

Yes. We provide independent advice on equipment selection based on your requirements and budget—not based on dealer incentives. We explain trade-offs between platforms (e.g., UniFi vs Deco, Control4 vs simpler options) so you can make informed decisions.

Do you work with interior designers and architects?

Yes. We coordinate with design teams to ensure technology integrates with architectural and interior plans. This includes specifying outlet locations, coordinating ceiling speaker placement, planning concealed equipment locations, and avoiding conflicts.

What is WiFi heat mapping?

WiFi heat mapping uses specialized tools to measure signal strength throughout a property, identifying dead zones, interference sources, and optimal access point locations. We use this for both existing system assessment and new system design.

How long does the design process take?

A straightforward design typically takes 1-2 weeks from site survey to final documentation. Complex projects with multiple systems, contractor coordination, or phased implementation may take longer. We provide timelines during the initial consultation.

Do you only provide consulting, or do you also install?

We offer both. Many clients engage us for design and then implementation. However, we also provide design-only services where you want independent advice but will use another installer, or where you need documentation for a tender process.

Can you help with budget planning for technology?

Yes. We provide budget estimates for different scopes and approaches, helping you understand trade-offs between cost and capability. We can design systems to meet specific budgets or advise on phased implementation to spread costs.
